Customised Ramps - We do them!

Not everything in life fits in a box. This is why we do customised ramps to fit your needs. Here is an example of an end user’s brief we had last month:

Not everything in life fits in a box. This is why we do customised ramps to fit your needs.

Here is an example of an end user’s brief we had last month:

  •  Pair or single ramp: Pair
  •  Length: 5 metres long
  •  Capacity: 7,500 kgs
  •  Machine: Vermeer directional drilling machine
  •  Ramp angle: No more than 18 degrees

The biggest hurdle straight off was the 5mtr length. Our standard 7.5T ramps are only 3.6 metres long. To overcome this, the manufacturer recommended a two piece ramp; one at 3.6 metres and a smaller one at 1.4mtrs, with a support leg on the shorter set and a connecting mechanism to hold them together when in use.

The end user asked if the support leg was removable or could be made removable, for transporting purposes. The leg in the initial sketch wasn’t removable, but, yes, it could be made removable. “Great!! Make it a removable leg. And, we need it in a weeks’ time” (it was about a Wednesday or Thursday at this point) asked the end user. Easier said than done on all parts.

The manufacturer came back and said, two weeks manufacture time for a set of ramps with a removable leg, one week with a solid leg. The end user opted for the solid leg option.

The ramps left our manufacturer on a Friday, were received by the end user the following Wednesday and were put straight to work. I asked for any feedback, positive or negative, from the end user. The end user came back saying the ramps had been received and that they were “perfect.”

Below is a picture of the 5m , 7500kg with a solid leg ramp that we got custom made -

If you need a ramp that is out of the ordinary contact us today and we will come up with a solution just for you!
