Your blind spot when you are reversing can be deadly. Although rear view mirrors and reversing beepers are designed to help minimise the risk, there is something very comforting in actually seeing where you are reversing and seeing is the only real safe option! Reversing cameras can eliminate your blind spot.

Take a look at the video on our #4484 - our most popular reversing camera kit.

The #4484 kit comes complete with:

  1. One heavy duty camera which is rated to IP69K. It has a little heater in the lens to stop condensation.
  2. 20m cable
  3. All the essential wiring
  4. A monitor with many helpful functions
  5. A monitor stand

This kit can also take a second camera, which you can purchase separately.
It has got 4 pin plug fittings and takes a voltage supply of 12 to 32 volts. It comes with a 12 month warranty.

The kit is often hooked into the reverse circuit of the vehicle, so that the reverse camera view shows up when the vehicle is put into reverse gear.

#4486 quad reversing camera kit. The main difference between this and the #4484 is that it can take up to 4 cameras.

The kit itself comes with a single heavy duty camera and you can purchase other cameras separately.

The monitor can show as many views as you have cameras fitted - That is up to 4 views. So if only 3 cameras are fitted it will show 3 views.

Various accessories are available for these kits including:

  1. Cables in 5m, 10m and 20m lengths
  2. Extra Cameras
  3. A joining kit for putting a camera onto a trailer

A lot of research went into the Sentinel heavy-duty rear view camera kits supplied by TransQuip, and they have proven themselves in the New Zealand market as a reliable option in these demanding conditions.

Advancements in technology have made a huge difference to the rear view cameras available. Cameras now produce better and clearer images, and have a wider view. Add to this the monitor's ability to adjust the picture contrast, colour, brightness and more.

One issue for the commercial vehicle industry has been sourcing an electronic system that will stand up to vibration, dust, and moisture. Consider the demanding conditions that these can be required in - adverse weather that may be hot, cold, windy, raining or even snowing! Then add to the mix a machine that operates with jolting movements, engine vibrations, and the dust and grit associated with doing its job. Chuck in an electronic device like a reversing camera that has to cope with this, and be accurate to provide a clear picture so the operator can work quickly and safety…
